Hi,

I have an Access/VBA school admin system and would like to move into the college/university market. I have followed this mailing list for the last three months and I'm convinced that OFbiz is the way to go. I want to port my EazyAdmin package to OFBiz for my clients first and then move to the more complex higher education systems. Hans Bakker expressed some interest when I mentioned this before and I'd like to know if anyone else has clients in the education sector and would like to participate.

My plan
* use the Party component for the students, parents/guardians/sponsors, and staff
* all of my schools currently use Pastel Accounting (a QuickBooks equivalent) so they'll initially only require an interface for exporting customers and creating fee invoicing batches (and yes, I'm side-stepping the accounting open/closed source debate for now)
* develop a new component for the courses/subjects/modules and the student results
* use the workflow component to model the registration of students and the collating, sign-off and reporting of results
* use the facilities component for the teaching venues and asset management
* use the workeffort component for the timetable (I developed a Java scheduler to allocate staff, venues, students and courses). There's also a need for an examination timetable.

I intend to raise funding to do all this and have a few potential funders in mind here in South Africa. I have to write a funding proposal and I am interested to know if any of you have prepared such a document.

Thanx in advance,

Mike Metcalfe
