Hans:
I ran across the code, and did not know how far the coding relative to
rental was in the base ofbiz code.

I am glad it is only having to-do with products.
I agree a product can be rented. I have not experience, in my 60+ years,
any B&M or Ecommerce store that does this, unless they are in the business
of renting, as a primary function.
I don't see being concern about extra work, being upset.

Can you tell me what is wrong with that? A Product can either be rented or
bought. This code is only going to be active if the product type is "fixed
asset Usage"...so if you do not have products with this type you will never
see the results of it.....

The specialized components are not required.....they are only using this
code....no reason to be upset.....
