Hello Jacques,
In your letter to Rohit you rote: "I'm sure now that Linux is by far better
than Windows to develop". I, myself, have been toying with the idea of
migrating to Linux. Could I ask you to elaborate on your assertion? Why
Linux is better?
Thank you!

Subject: [OFBiz] Users - Eclipse on Linux nightmare (this is a tale...)
Rohit,
I'm still trying to get at least 2 days per week to work on OFBiz (in my
case more and more Neogia but it's almost idem).
For one year now I am not only learning OFBiz but Java (former MS Visual C++
man) and Linux as well.
I begin to survive more easily with Linux (Ubuntu Hoary). Eclipse is so
better on Linux that I will totally switch from Windows next days (thanks to
Samba :).
Yesterday I had some trouble with Linux : as I don't want anybody to touch
my computers when I am off (I work at home) I use a screensaver
"passworded".
By curiosity, I have waited to see what happen when you let the screensaver
time out coming. Never do that : after access is always *DENIED*. I don't
understand why it's so, but I can tell you it's hard. I had an Eclipse
session opened and had to switch off my PC. Bingo : I lost all my workspace.
Fortunately there were only OFBiz and Neogia projects on this machine (easy
to recall from the net and I have a copy of my OFBiz changes on one Windows
PC). I did to succed to restore anything (from rsync) as I don't understand
exactly how things are managed by Eclipse (.metadata seems not enough).
So my advice : don't be too curious if you don't want to loose your sunday
trying to search a way to restore an Eclipse workspace (this means also all
your parameters, etc. Fortunatly not the plugins)
So it's OK now, but Linux (with some Eclipse help) too may sometimes really
rot you life !
This being said, I'm sure now that Linux is by far better than Windows to
develop.
My first experience in MS world was in 1985 with IBM PC AT2 : MS DOS 3.0 -
lattice C, I worked also on IBM 3090 series in APL. Waooooo, it's good to
speak of oneself , sorry for the bothering...
Good night all (at least me, I really need it ;)
Jacques

Thanks David, Ian,
I'll take out time and figure this thing out in details.
Jacques, regarding J2EE architecture I think the best of the books will be,
One recomended in Ofbiz documentation, J2EE Core Patterns.
Another one is available at The Serverside, J2EE Architects Handbook,

Thanks Rohit,
I'm already reading it (currently chapter 6), but must confess that I have
not sufficient time for that, a pity :(
